Montgomery Bird Club Membership
Why Become a Member?
- Our field trips are led by some of our best birders and are free. For a list, please consult our online calendar. By participating in bird counts such as the “Christmas Bird Count”, you join birders from all over the world in practicing citizen science.
- As a member you receive, about twice a month, short electronic newsletters that keep you up-to-date on meetings and other activities. You are invited to our monthly meetings, whether they take place in person, or virtually. If you miss them, you can watch the recording on our new Vimeo channel!
- You receive The Chat, our quarterly printed newsletter as well as The Maryland Yellowthroat, the newsletter of the Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS). You also receive one to three email newsletters per month with meeting and trip reminders as well as news of interest to birders.
- Your membership dues help sustain all our activities and those of the Maryland Ornithological Society and allow us to contribute to environmental conservation.

How do I become a member or renew my membership?
When you join the Montgomery Bird Club you automatically join the Maryland Ornithological Society, the umbrella association of 16 chapters. Part of your dues go to support MOS. There are two ways to join or renew: electronically through the MOS website (preferred) or by check if you are unable to do electronic payments.
See the buttons below. Individual membership is $30, family membership $40.
Can I contribute further?
The third button below gives you the opportunity to donate to our Claudia Wilds Fund. The fund is named for the distinguished club member and author of the ground-breaking “Finding Birds in the National Capital Area,” first published in 1983. Begun in 1997 after Claudia Wilds’ death, the fund helps the club to promote understanding of birds and the need for habitat protection. THANK YOU!
