All birders, but especially new birders, are welcome on this half-day trip, which will focus on the identification of ducks at these premier county spots for winter waterfowl. THIS TRIP IS FULL. Join us for a morning at and around Riley’s Lock where we will first spend some time scanning the river for waterfowl. After that, we’ll head upstream on the towpath checking the turning basin for any elusive waterfowl and then continue on looking for winter woodland birds. POP-UP WALK: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, District of Columbia
CANCELLED FOR FORECAST HEAVY RAINS. Layer up for a morning walk through the ponds and tidal wetland of this nearby national park. After meeting in the parking lot at 8 a.m., we'll look for sparrows, woodpeckers, water birds, and raptors. The terrain is flat and easy to walk but may prove muddy in spots and difficult to negotiate using a wheelchair. We will meet at the parking lot at 8 a.m. Restrooms are available.
